Learning for Sustainability in a World of Cultural Diversity"

Berlin Declaration 

On the foundation of our own socialisation (culture, religion etc.) we have to design our personal future in the responsibility for sustainable development.

These are our individual contributions and responsibilities for realising this aim:  

Article I: 

 

1.    We will tell people about human rights and violations of human rights.

2.    We will stand up whenever and wherever human rights are mistreated.

3.    We will raise our voice against poverty, childwork, racism, fanatism and any other violation of human rights. 

 

Article II: 

 

1.    We will share our knowledge and let others gain profit of our own abilities.

2.    In our daily life we will try to teach / educate values to help creating a natural respect for others (based on values). 

 

Article III: 

 

1.    We think that cultural diversity is a positive thing and we think it is a chance.

2.a. We will try to overcome pre-judgement and stereotypes and respect the cultural and religious background of other people. 

       2.b. We will try to learn from other cultures. 

3.    Traditions and cultural identity are to be preserved. 

4.    We will give other people(s) the chance to express their opinions.

 

Article IV:

 

We want to be more critical towards media and information from other people and try to get more than just one perspective / view at something to be able to build our own opinion and to be sure about it.

 

Article V:

 

1.    We will try to decrease the use of non-renewable resources (oil, coal etc) and water whenever possible and affordable. 

2.    We want to achieve this by supporting new (cleaner) technologies (i.e. alternative energies) whenever possible and affordable.

 

Article VI:

 

We want to get our message out to as many people as possible and we want to interact with other cultures.
